JAIPUR: A 35-year-old man ended his life by hanging from the ceiling of his rented house at Dampur Mohalla under Nihalganj police station of Dholpur on Friday morning.
Police said Matadin, a native of Madhya Pradesh, locked his wife and children in the bedroom and hanged himself to death in another room of the house in the middle of Thursday night. He had had dinner with his family earlier in the evening and gone to bed, his wife told police.
"The death came to light in the morning when the wife found herself locked in the bedroom and started screaming for help. After the neighbours informed us, our team reached and broke open the door of the house to enter. On opening one room, we saw the man's wife and his children in it. When another room was opened, the man was found hanging from the ceiling," said a police official.
Matadin was living in the house with his family for 15 years. Preliminary investigations suggested he was under depression for a long time. "The wife of the deceased said he was highly alcoholic and failed to focus on any work. No suicide note was found in the room he ended his life in. Prima facie it appears to be a case of suicide," added the official.
