Prayagraj: The locals of Thatheri bazaar and Naini bazaar played
Holi on Friday. These localities witnessed colours on streets with fun and frolic marking tradition of playing
Holi on the third day of the main festival.
People were seen splashing colours on each other, dancing to the tune of DJs or dhol(drum). People from other localities visited their acquaintances’ houses in Thatheri bazaar, Sadiapur and Naini to witness the traditional flavour of Holi.
“It’s a famous age old tradition of playing holi at these two localities and no one wants to miss it” said Sunil, a resident of Thatheri bazaar. Locals were seen wishing each other despite the fact that they were not able to recognise due to coats of colours. Younger ones splashed buckets of colours on each other during celebrations.
People were seen relishing sweets, namkeens and traditional khoya products as well as Thandai. Although Holi is played only in a lane of chowk, locals made arrangements of a tanker and specially designed shower to drench people. Remarkably, these two localities are located in the busy business areas but playing Holi is limited on by-lane of locality without disturbing adjoining areas.
