An NGO, Initiative for Competition Promotion (ICP) took an initiative to give free coaching classes to JKPSC KAS aspirants in Srinagar. It is helping poor students to qualify for civil services exams. ICP taught 35 students for a year for free. They provide mentoring and coaching to civil services aspirants. Hostel and Library facilities are available to these students who came from far-flung areas for the preparation for exams. Candidates also get an environment to study for the exams, which they do not get at their homes. Several candidates from different regions of the UT were trained for the interview through offline and online orientation classes, expert lectures and mock interviews. Many students from Jammu and Delhi also took benefit of ICP’s Interview Mentorship Programme, an initiative for the preparation of the crucial personality test. Every year, 35 aspirants from the length and breadth of Jammu and Kashmir enrol themselves at the centre. The NGO has guest houses where all the services like lodging, teaching and library facilities are provided free of cost. Aspirants are guided by the officers as well to help them to achieve their civil services dream. Besides the residential coaching programme, the academy conducts classroom coaching, test series and regular awareness campaigns about a career in civil services.
