MADURAI: The Rameswaram Harbour police recovered 10 bundles of ganja that washed ashore on the Serankottai coast on Friday. Each bundle contained 2 kg of ganja (total 20 kg), and police suspect that these bundles, part of larger consignment, might have fallen into the sea while smugglers were transporting them to
Sri Lanka.
Local fishermen found these bundles on the sea shore and alerted the police. The police rushed to the spot and recovered 10 bundles. Each bundle had two kg of ganja packed neatly.
On Wednesday, the Harbour police recovered a bundle contained three kg of ganja.
Further investigations were under way to find out the smugglers operating in the area. The police said sea patrolling would be increased to curb ganja smuggling.
