I am an Indian who has lived in Texas for the past 22 years, yet I still do not speak English like my fellow Americans do. Even with my children who were born and raised in this country, I still have trouble finding the correct words and frequently feel like a stranger while I'm speaking. Even if I can write well, speaking English well is still difficult for me, as it is for many of my Indian friends and acquaintances who live in the US.

Yet, during talks with US media, I was astounded by how naturally ntr, ram Charan, and rajamouli spoke in English. They responded to unexpected queries and press conferences with the appropriate language and characteristic American wit. When I watched ntr speaking to the media camera at the Golden Globes ceremony a while back, I was quite impressed.

I recently saw a number of interviews with rajamouli and ram Charan, who spoke flawless british english with sporadic American accents. Even the team's oldest member, keeravani, was able to quickly understand and respond to inquiries in perfect English. keeravani was able to speak without difficulty, although many indians who are fluent in english find it difficult to understand what their American counterparts are asking them in casual chats.

The fact that these actors, the director, and the music director didn't have advanced degrees startled me the most. Even though some of them did not finish college, they were able to talk in such fluent English. They had largely worked in telugu cinema for decades and had no prior experience living in the US for a long period of time. It is actually amazing how well they have been able to acclimate, pick up the language, and imitate the culture.

I came to understand that mastering a language well requires more than just formal education—it also requires the capacity to understand and replicate it. rajamouli, ntr, ram Charan, and keeravani have honestly impressed me, and I salute them for the superb communication they shown while representing india at the Oscars. They serve as a source of pride for all indians, both at home and abroad, and as an example for millions of indians who are trying to get better at speaking English.
