Atiq’s son Ali leads disciplined life in Naini Central jail
Prayagraj: Ali Ahmad, son of jailed mafia don-turned-politician Atiq Ahmad and is currently lodged at the high security barrack in Naini Central Jail, is leading a disciplined life.
The jail authorities on Thursday claimed to have enhanced the security measures inside the high-security barracks where Ali is kept.
Apart from installing a wide network of CCTV sets, security personnel armed with body-worn cameras have also been deployed outside the barracks.
Ali, who took admission in a prestigious institute after passing intermediate from a city-based school, was first named in the FIR at Kareli police station in 2021 on the charges of extortion and threatening a property dealer. He remained absconding till he surrendered in a local court in Prayagraj in July last.
However, in the past three days, none has arrived to meet Ali at jail premises.
Highly placed jail sources told TOI that Ali remains calm and quiet at his barracks and hardly interacts with the jail staff. He barely interacts with the jail staff.
A senior jail official told TOI, “Security has been enhanced in and around high security barracks and strict vigil is being maintained through a close network of CCTV sets and body-worn armed security personnel.”
Since the ‘shoot-and-scoot’ tactic of the jailed mafia and gangster Atiq came back to haunt the city following the killing of Umesh Pal, the prime witness in the killings of BSP MLA Raju Pal and two of his police gunners, special police teams have been looking for 10 wanted criminals, including five shooters.
Ali’s elder brother Omar is cooling his heels at Lucknow Central Jail. Moreover, Atiq’s third son Asad, who was captured in CCTV for allegedly being involved in Dhoomanganj shootout incident and wanted by the police, is carrying Rs 2.50 lakh cash reward on his head. Atiq’s two other sons are minors.
