GTB’s marketing panel rejigged

Panaji: The tourism department has re-constituted an empowered committee of Goa Tourism Board (GTB) for marketing and public relations. The role of the empowered committee is to give studied suggestions and comments on subjects at hand to GTB, while the latter takes the final decisions.
GTB is headed by the chief minister with the tourism minister as the co-chairperson. The tourism minister is also the chairperson of the empowered committee, which has senior government officials and representatives of trade as members.
Sujit Banerjee, a member of World Travel & Tourism Council, India Initiative (WTTCII); Maendra Alvares, a culture expert; Ernest Dias, a tour, travel and charters expert; the chief operating officer of GMR Goa; an aviation expert; and V Shantakumar, an industry expert, have been appointed as members of the expert committee.
While GTB meets every quarter, an expert committee has to meet more often.
