Atiq's son will be shot: Ram Gopal

KANPUR: Senior Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav has claimed that one of the sons of jailed don Atiq Ahmed will be shot dead by UP police in the next few days.
"They (police) have not been able to catch the real culprits in the Umesh Pal murder case. They are under pressure from the top. They will kill whoever they can find. They have nabbed Atiq Ahmed's two minor sons. One of them will be killed in a few days," Ram Gopal told reporters in Etawah on Tuesday.
Atiq's minor sons are currently in a juvenile home. Another son, Asad, has been named as an accused in Umesh's murder in Prayagraj on February 24 and has been on the run since. Umesh was a key witness in the 2005 murder of BSP MLA Raju Pal. Umesh's two police bodyguards were also shot dead.
Ram Gopal said the Constitution gives the right to life to everyone. "You cannot take away someone's life. There is no way except the legal course. If there is a direct encounter with the police, it is fine. But if the police nab and then kill a person, it is a punishable offence," the SP leader said.
"If not today, then tomorrow another system will be made. Nothing happens to the leader in case of a fake encounter. The leader is saved but the cops have to face action," Ram Gopal added.
