MYSURU: PM Narendra Modi will arrive in Mysuru en route to Mandya to inaugurate the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway project on March 12.
He will land at Mysuru Airport located at Mandakalli on Mysuru-Nanjangud national highway at 11.10 am and take a chopper to reach Mandya. He will get back to the airport at 1.35 pm to fly to Hubballi.
On Thursday, SPG officers held a meeting with senior officers to review security arrangements at the airport. SPG has asked the officials to identify a full-fledged hospital near the airport and to keep on stand-by three ambulances at the airport.
The chief minister, his ministerial colleagues and the Union ministers will be allowed to welcome the PM as per protocol. SPG has asked the Mysuru district administration to make preparations for the VIP to travel to Mandya by road in case the situation arises.
DC KV Rajendra, and other officials were present.
In Mandya, Modi will extend benefits to beneficiaries of various Central and state government schemes after launching the expressway at Gejjalagere, said cooperation minister S T Somashekar. Speaking to reporters in Mandya on Thursday, Somashekar said beneficiaries of various schemes will participate in the programme.
Now, JD(S) too claims credit for the expressway
Even as former CM Siddaramaiah cancelled the inspection he had planned of the expressway project starting from Mysuru, JD(S) laid claim for the Rs 8,478 crore project. Former minister and JD(S) MLA C S Puttaraju said former CM H D Kumaraswamy and then public works minister H D Revanna had okayed its alignment, and focused on the project's implementation. Puttaraju, who was a former MP of Mandya, said he, along with party supremo H D Deve Gowda, had discussed the project both inside and outside the Parliament, and helped in its implementation.
"That it is a Centre-sponsored project is a fact. But to state that the Karnataka government has no role to play in its planning and implementation is not acceptable," he told reporters in Mysuru.
