Rain brings down temperature by 5°C in Rajasthan

JAIPUR: An active upper air cyclonic circulation and western disturbances continued to bring mild to moderate showers and hailstorms in several parts of the state. The recent abrupt rainfall has caused the mercury to dip almost 5° Celsius on average, in both maximum and minimum temperatures, across the state.
Fatehpur (Sikar) was the coldest in the state on Thursday with a minimum temperature recorded of 12°C.
People in Jaipur woke up amidst drizzle and a minimum temperature of 16.4°C. It was followed by a pleasant afternoon with a maximum temperature of 28.4°C. Scattered thunderstorms were witnessed in and around Jaipur during the day. In its forecast for Jaipur, the Met office said that it would be a mainly clear sky on Friday.
On Thursday, scattered rainfall was witnessed in Alwar, Sawai Madhopur, Jaipur, Tonk, Dausa and Karauli districts. Hailstorm was witnessed in Jaisalmer, Barmer, Jodhpur, Nagaur and some parts of Pali district. Asked about the reason, an officer at Jaipur Met office said, “It is being seen in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan mainly due to the formation of upper air cyclonic circulation and western disturbances.”
