Ranchi: There was a riot of colours at the BJP state headquarters on Harmu Road here on Wednesday as its netas, karyakartas, legislators and parliamentarians thronged the premises to play
Holi. The scene was different for the ruling coalition parties, which celebrated the day without much fanfare.
With social distancing a thing of the past, BJP bigwigs like Deepak Prakash, Babulal Marandi and others mingled freely with the karyakartas. Ajsu-P chief
Sudesh Mahto drove down to the home of Ranchi’s BJP MP Sanjay Seth on Ratu Road with his wife and extended Holi wishes. The politicians then applied colours to each other.
Ranchi MLA C P Singh was also back at his usual colourful self as he threw a Holi party at his government bungalow in Kutchery. “For the last couple of years, Holi celebrations were muted due to the pandemic and we celebrated with near and dear ones. But this time, it was back to the old days,” Singh, who is known for hosting ‘Kapda Faar Holi’ at his home, said.
In Jamshedpur, former chief minister Raghubar Das organised ‘Holika Dahan’ on Holi
eve at his home in Agrico. In Dumri, education minister Jagarnath Mahto spent the Holi indoors owing to his ill health. Mahagama MLA Dipika Pandey Singh also gave the Holi celebrations a miss owing to her father’s illness.
Chief minister Hemant Soren celebrated a quiet Holi at his home with his family on Wednesday. In the evening, he drove down to his ancestral village at Nemra in Ramgarh to take part in the Baha festival.
