Jaipur: Jaipur Polo & Riding Club (JPRC) is organizing a three-week JRPC Polo Season at the Sirsi Road in Bindaika. On the occasion of International Women’s Day an international Ladies Polo tournament started. The players from USA, Ireland, Czech Republic and India are participating in the four-day tournament which got underway here on Wednesday.
Organizing committee chairman and Arjuna Awardee Colonel Kuldeep Singh Garcha said that the International Ladies Polo tournament began on Wednesday and the final will be played on March 12.
In the inaugural match, Ireland defeated JPRC 8-5 thanks to a brace by Natasha.
Former Indian team captain Garcha said that apart from this, Jaipur Polo Cup (4-goal out of hat) tournament from March 13 to 19 while Chief Ministers Cup will be played from March 20 to 26 at the same place.
“We are organizing low goal tournaments for the youngsters to promote them and create a strong story base of players in the state,” said former Indian team coach Garcha and adding that “after the pandemic we want to revive the polo season to its former glory to encourage and increase the number of polo players in India and and rest of the world.”
He said that JRPC hosted the first ever international ladies polo tournament in December 2002 in India and has been carrying on this tradition. At the local level we are training our young women in Polo to compete with the international ladies teams. tnn
