On migrant labourers being attacked in Tamil Nadu; fake news spread by BJP leaders, says MK Stalin
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, Thursday, accused BJP leaders from North India of spreading fake news and rumors about alleged attacks on migrant labourers in the South Indian state.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, Thursday, accused BJP leaders from North India of spreading fake news and rumors about alleged attacks on migrant labourers in the South Indian state.
Responding to questions under the ‘Ungalil Oruvan’ programme, Stalin claimed that the BJP started spreading these rumors, day after he spoke about the need for a united national-level alliance against the saffron party.
Stalin pointed out that people from various Indian states who come here in search of employment have been living and working in Tamil Nadu for years and have never faced any discrimination or problems. The Tamil Nadu CM alleged that BJP members from North Indian States with “bad intentions “created “fake videos” and spread “false news” to defame Tamils, adding that plot of “fake news spreaders” is clearly visible if you notice that it was done the very next day after he called for a need for a united national-level alliance against the BJP.
Stalin said that he spoke to Bihar CM Nitish Kumar after some videos of the alleged incidents surfaced and the state police chief clarified that no such incidents happened in Tamil Nadu, adding delegates from Bihar who visited the state to enquire about the attacks returned with full satisfaction.
Over the past few months, several unverified videos and reports emerged on social media showing migrant workers, especially from North India, being assaulted and harassed in Tamil Nadu. Subsequently, a team from Bihar led by Balamurugan IAS visited the state to take stock of the matter.
The team visited Tiruppur on Sunday and met the district administration and police officials to know about the actions taken so far in the case. Officials of the Bihar government on Tuesday interacted with Bihar-based migrant workers in Chennai.
Stalin said Tamil Nadu is a state known for ‘Vandhorai Vala Vaikum Tamil Nadu’ (whoever Comes here, Tamil Nadu would make their life better). He said that Tamils love unity and brotherhood and are people who have high thoughts like ‘Pirapokkum Ella Vyirukkum’ (all men that live are one in circumstances of birth) – ‘Yadum Ure Yavaru Kalir’ (All the universe is our place and everyone in this universe is our people).
