This is 'gajar halwa' budget, says Uddhav Thackeray
MUMBAI: Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday slammed the Shinde-Fadnavis government and described the state budget as "gajar halwa".

Uddhav was present in the state Legislative Council when Minister Deepak Kesarakr read out the budget speech.
"Earlier two to three budgets were presented by the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government. There was a crisis of Corona and the central government was not on our side. Every time there was a GST arrear of Rs 25,000 crores. It has been six months now, the government has come with the support of a superpower. But, everyone is watching how the state administration is going on. I spoke to some farmers from Aurangabad (Sambhaji Nagar) this morning, they told me despite the heavy unseasonal rainfall, there has been no panchnama of their crop loss. Not a single official has visited the farms, they told me," Uddhav said in the Vidhan Bhavan complex soon after the budget speech was read.
"In the budget, all the elements of the society have been offered honey. The government has tried to play with their emotions. After unseasonal rain, there was thunder in Mumbai, but no rain. Therefore, this budget only has thunder but no rain. In one line, this budget can be described as "gajar halwa". Many of our schemes in the budget have been renamed. Balasaheb Thackeray Apla Dawakhana is our plan. The same will be implemented across the state. Let's see when the announced plans materialize. There was no provision in the budget about how the farmers would get the guaranteed minimum price,” Uddhav said.
"Deepak Keskar read the budget in the Legislative Council. He mentioned the Prime Minister many times in his speech. I do not have a problem with it. However, while coming to power, the Prime Minister had announced that the income of farmers would be doubled. It has been eight-nine years, but no one is talking about it now and this hasn’t happened.. This budget is a gajar halwa budget," Uddhav said.
