COIMBATORE: A 40-year-old woman farm worker sustained an injury in an elephant attack in Somayanur on Wednesday.
The injured woman was identified as S Balamani. "She was staying in a farm owned by Nallathambi, 1.2km away from Thadagam forest. When an elephant entered the farmland around 4am, she tried to scare it away. But the animal pushed her down. She was taken to a private hospital, where doctors found a minor fracture on her back," a forest department officer said.
A team of foresters chased the elephant back into the forest. They are monitoring its movement.
