CM to lay foundation stone for hostel

Hubballi: Chief minister Basavaraj Bommai will lay foundation stone for a new students’ hostel at Digambar Jain Boarding on Station Road in Hubballi on March 9. Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, Dakshin Bharat Jain Sabha Hubballi branch chairman Vidyadhar Patil said that the chief minister will lay the foundation stone in the presence of Sri Dharmasena Bhattaraka Swamiji and Sri Devendrakeerti Bhattaraka Swamiji.The ceremony is jointly organised by Dakshin Bharat Jain Sabha Hubballi branch, Digambar Jain Boarding, alumni association and Brahmila Mahila Parishat. “When we started , there were less applicants. This time, we received more than 200 applications. Due to space shortage, we could accommodate only 60 students. Hence, we decided to construct a new hostel,” he said.
Blood donation camp
PKS Foundation in association with KH Patwa Foundation and Rashtrotthana Blood Centre will organize a blood donation camp at Hotel Woodlands at Keshwapur in Hubballi on March 9. Foundation chairman Prasad Shetty said that they are expecting more than 700 donors at the camp that will be held from 8am to 6pm. “This year, we hope to collect more than 700 units of blood,” he said.
