2023 has been a great year for Irish talent, between Bafta success and SAG award nominations. But it’s almost time for the biggest night in the awards season calendar.

When are the Oscars taking place?

The 95th Academy Awards ceremony is on Sunday, March 12 in Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre. In Ireland, it will start at midnight and end around 3am. But if you’re looking to catch the star arriving and keep an eye on the red carpet, pre-show coverage begins at 6.30pm.

Where can I watch?

The awards are being broadcast in the US by ABC, and will be available to watch in Ireland on Sky Cinema and Sky Showcase on the night, as well as with a Now Cinema or Now Entertainment membership.

Who is hosting?

This year, comedian and talk show host Jimmy Kimmel will host the ceremony for the third time. Taking over from Regina Hall, Amy Schumer and Wanda Sykes who hosted last year, Kimmel was the last solo host for the show in 2018.

Are there any Irish nominees?

In keeping with a great year for the country’s talent, there are 14 nominations from Ireland. The Banshees of Inisherin have raked up nine nominations in various categories including Best Picture. Colin Farrell’s performance in the film and Paul Mescal in Aftersun have earned nominations in the Best Actor category. Brendan Gleeson, Kerry Condon and Barry Keoghan have all been nominated for their supporting roles. Nominations also include International Feature Film for An Cailín Ciúin and Best Live Action Short Film for An Irish Goodbye
