HYDERABAD: Two vehicle thieves were arrested by the Rachakonda police on Wednesday in two different incidents. Cops recovered 12 bikes and two auto-rickshaws from their possession.
While performing vehicle check near Rajyalaxmi cinema hall in Uppal on Wednesday morning, police intercepted a suspect travelling on a stolen bike. During interrogation, the accused identified as G Jayaraju (26), a flower vendor from Vijayapuri Colony in Uppal, confessed to have stolen seven bikes in the city.
One of the victims, B Ravi (29), parked his two-wheeler in front of his room at Vijayapuri Colony on March 7 and was stolen. Acting on his complaint, police verified CCTV footage near the crime scene and conducted a vehicle check on Wednesday to nab the accused.
Based on Jayaraju's confession, police recovered six more bikes, all stolen from various places in Uppal during the past few months and abandoned later. According to police, Jayaraju used to travel on a stolen bike till it ran out of fuel and later abandon it on the road side. Jayaraju has a criminal record.
Police also arrested P Naga Raju (30), an auto driver from Moula Ali, for stealing vehicles. Recently, the accused stole an auto-rickshaw parked at Moula Ali on March 5 night. He was caught from his house based on CCTV footage.
Police recovered five two-wheelers and two stolen autos from his possession. Raju committed the offences at Malkajgiri, Neredmet, Kushaiguda and Uppal.
