Terror funding case: ED raids house of jailed separatist leader Qazi Yasir in Kashmir’s Anantnag
Central probe agency Enforcement Directorate, Thursday, raided the homes of jailed Hurriyat leader Qazi Yasir and Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement chairman Zaffar Bhat in connection with its ongoing investigation in the terror funding case involving top Kashmiri separatist leaders.

Reports quoting sources said that the ED is conducting raids at nine locations across Kashmir including south Kashmir-based separatist leader Qazi Yasir’s house in Qazi Mohalla area of Anantnag today.
They said a team of ED sleuths accompanied by a team of Jammu and Kashmir police also raided the home of Mohammad Akbar Bhat alias Zaffar Bhat—chairman of J&K Salvation Movement— in Bagh-e-Mehtab area of Srinagar city on Thursday morning.

An ED team is also conducting a raid at the house of one Syed Khalid Geelani in Srinagar’s Baghat area, they said.
Quoting anonymous sources, reports claimed that the raids are linked to the allotment of MBBS seats to Jammu and Kashmir residents in colleges across Pakistan.
In February, the district administration of Anantnag under the ongoing anti-encroachment drive, demolished an illegal shopping complex belonging to Qazir Yasir.
A district administration spokesman had said that Hurriyat leader Qazi Yasir had illegally raised the shopping complex on state land near stadium in Anantnag, adding that complex was razed and shops in the property sealed which will be handed over to the Municipal council Anantnag.
Qazi Ahmed Yasir, a Kashmiri separatist leader, who belonged to the Mirwaiz Umar Farooq-led Hurriyat (M), was kicked out of the group in 2018 after an alleged video of doing obscene acts with a woman went viral on social media. Yasir, the former Mirwaiz of South Kashmir, is in jail since 2018.
Earlier, the National Investigation Agency had sealed the APHC HQ in Srinagar’s Rajbagh in January.

A woman from Noida was duped of Rs 61,900 by a fraudster when she tried to book a doctor’s appointment online, Delhi police said on Thursday. The victim, identified as Tabassum Qureshi, who works as a television producer has registered a complaint with the Delhi Police.
According to the reports, Qureshi, a resident of Daryaganj in Central Delhi, was trying to book an appointment at Dr Sumit Jain’s private clinic online through a number that she got on the internet. At first, the call didn’t connect but later she received a call from an unknown number who posed as a staff of the clinic.
The woman in a complaint said the suspect said that he will book the appointment for her. He asked the woman to pay Rs 5 as a donation to the orphanage kids through a payment link. She tried to make the payment but at first, it was unsuccessful so she used her sister-in-law’s mobile to do the same.

Well, the transaction from her sister-in-law’s mobile also failed but 5-10 minutes later she received a message that Rs 51,900 has been deducted from her account. A few minutes later, she received another message stating that Rs 10,000 more has also been deducted from her mother Sardar Qureshi’s account.
The Delhi Police registered a case at the Cyber Police station of Central District under Section 420/120B on February 28. Further investigation into the matter is underway, said police,
A similar incident took place last year in November when a woman from Noida was duped of Rs 2.18 lakh by a fraudster while booking a doctor’s appointment.
The woman got the number of the doctor’s private clinic through an internet search. She called the number and the suspect said that he books appointments. He asked the woman to pay the consultation fee online through a payment link. As she tried to make the payment, Rs 2.18 lakh was deducted from her account, police said.

A young man was stabbed to death in Baraut area of Uttar Pradesh following an altercation while consuming alcohol on Holi, police said on Thursday.

A young man was stabbed to death in Baraut area of Uttar Pradesh following an altercation while consuming alcohol on Holi, police said on Thursday.
According to Circle Officer Baraut Saviratna Gautam, the deceased, identified as 22-year-old Vicky got involved in an argument when he and some others were having drinks on Wednesday. The officer said that the scuffle soon turned violent and Vicky was stabbed during the incident.
The victim was a resident of Hilwadi village in Baraut area.
Police received information about the incident, reached the spot and took the body into custody, the officer said, adding that the body has been sent for post-mortem.
A case has been registered and a search has been launched to nab the accused.
In a similar incident, two people were arrested for allegedly beating a CNG pump salesman to death in Delhi’s Punjabi Bagh area on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as 34-year-old Vikas Chandra, a resident of Swaroop Nagar, Daulatpur Samaypur, according to the police.
A senior police official said that the victim was heading home after finishing his shift at the CNG pump in Golden Park Jhuggi, New Rohtak Road, at around 4:00 pm on Wednesday. He stopped at a shop enroute to buy some articles where he got involved in an altercation with some local Jhuggi residents, identified as Karan and Arjun.
The inebriated men, reported thrashed Vikas to death, he said, adding that legal action is being initiated and an FIR under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered.
In another incident, A man was reportedly killed during a brawl in Mehrauli area of Delhi on Wednesday.
An official said that the victim, identified as 32-year-old Brajesh Kumar, died was killed in a scuffle between two groups in South Delhi’s Mehrauli. He said the police received information at around 1:30 pm on Wednesday about a fight at ward number 3.
A police team was rushed to the spot where they found the deceased, Brajesh Kumar (32), lying in a pool of blood at his rented place.
Kumar had sustained severe injuries on his head and was rushed to a local hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, he said.

A man in his early 20s reportedly blackmailed a woman judge with morphed photos of her in Rajasthan’s Jaipur and threatened to circulate the pictures if she didn’t pay him Rs 20 lakh.

A man in his early 20s reportedly blackmailed a woman judge with morphed photos of her in Rajasthan’s Jaipur and threatened to circulate the pictures if she didn’t pay him Rs 20 lakh.
According to the police, the accused, who has now been identified, downloaded the judge’s pictures from her social media handle, morphed them and sent the photos to her chambers in the court as well as her house.
The woman judge, whose name was not disclosed for privacy reasons, filed a complaint at the Sadar police station in Jaipur, said an official, adding that an FIR in this regard was registered on February 28, however no arrests have been made so far.
He said the man has been identified and police has launched a hunt to track him down.
In her complaint, the woman judge said that she received a parcel on February 7 from her stenographer who said it was delivered by a man claiming it was from a children’s school. The man didn’t give his name when asked by the judge stenographer, she said.
The judge revealed that the parcel contained some sweets, morphed obscene photos of her and note from the blackmailer demanding Rs 20 lakh if she didn’t want the pictures to go public.
The blackmailer threatened the judge to be ready with Rs 20 lakh else he will spoil her and her family, adding that he will inform her of the time and place for delivering the money.
As per the FIR, another parcel containing was sent to the judge’s residence 20 days later and the judge decided to lodge an FIR, an official said. He said that the accused, who appeared to be in his 20s was seen delivering the parcel to the judge’s chambers in the CCTV camera footage taken from the court.
A case of extortion and outraging a woman’s modesty has been registered under relevant sections of the law, the official said, adding that man has been and is being traced and further investigation is ongoing.
