JAIPUR: Cybercrooks siphoned off Rs 5.50 lakh retirement money from a former The Times of India senior journalist's bank account.
Ashish Sen (58) retired from the Times of India's sports bureau here on February 28 and received Rs 5.58 lakh gratuity and salary payments the same day.
According to Sen, he went to the bank on March 3 to move his funds to his second account and was taken aback when he found that Rs 5.50 lakh was diverted on March 1.
Sen, a native of Kolkata, said he did not receive any OTP or message about the transaction and neither did he click on any suspicious link during that time frame. Without wasting time, he went to Bajaj Nagar police station and filed an FOR about the alleged cyber fraud.
Police have filed a case under IPC Section 420 (cheating) and said they are trying to locate the account where the amount was transferred.
