JAISALMER: Border Security Force (BSF) jawans have caught an Iranian couple who were apparently trying to cross over to Pakistan through the Munabao border crossing point in Barmer district. They have been brought to the CID office in Barmer where they are being qustioned.
According to information from police and BSF, the Iranian couple Jahangir (48) and Saraj Razjan Ju (48) along with taxi driver Akbar Ali, a resident of Delhi, were apprehended near Munabao. They told police that that they had left from Mumbai to go to Hyderabad but GPS navigation misled them and they reached Munabao instead.
Police said the couple’s visas had expired in December. They were travelling in a taxi of Delhi registration. They came to India in November 2022 on visas up to December 14, but they did not return to Iran.
Security agencies are investigating why the couple did not return to Iran and why they came to the Pakistan border. So far, police said, nothing untoward has come to light regarding their actions.
