HUBBALLI: The Hubballi division of South Western Railway (SWR) celebrated International Women’s Day at the Railway Officers’ Club, here on Tuesday. Harsh Khare, Divisional Railway Manager said that every year International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8 but it should not be limited to one day.
"Every day should be Women’s Day. Both men and women should work together to achieve gender equality in society," he added. As part of the celebrations, Hubballi division and South Western Railway Women’s Welfare Organization (SWRWWO) conducted various competitions for women railway employees.
Ruchi Khare, President of the SWRWWO-Hubballi division presented prizes to the winners of these competitions. She also gave away 'Outstanding Woman' awards to 10 women railway employees for their exemplary service. Cultural programmes were conducted.
Additional divisional railway managers Vishvas Kumar and Santosh Kumar Verma; Senior Divisional Personnel Officer (Co-ordination), K Asif Hafeez; members of SWRWWO and staff of Hubballi division participated in the event.
