Heroin worth Rs 14 crore seized in Mizoram

AIZAWL: In one of the largest drug hauls in the state, Mizoram Police seized two kilogrammes and 853 grams of heroin from the Khankawn police check gate along the Mizoram-Myanmar border in Champhai district, police said on Wednesday.
The officials said the contraband, worth more than Rs 14 crore in the international market, was seized on Monday night.
A car, ferrying the contraband item, was also seized and did not have a registration plate when it was stopped at the check gate. The driver and his passenger managed to escape and flee into the jungle nearby, taking advantage of the night, police said.
Later, one of the accused identified as Farook Hosen (37), son of Abdul Hashem of Bhola Mura of Sepahijala district in Tripura, was arrested by the Champhai Police on Tuesday.
