Air India Cabin Crew Member Arrested On Attempt to Smuggle Gold

Kochi, 9 March  : An Air India cabin crew member was arrested at Kochi Airport on Wednesday for attempting to smuggle gold, according to officials. The individual, identified as Shafi and hailing from Wayanad, was found in possession of 1,487 grams of gold by Customs officials.

The Customs Preventive Commissionerate had received a confidential tip-off that Shafi, who was part of the Bahrain-Kozhikode-Kochi service, was attempting to smuggle gold. Shafi had allegedly planned to wrap the gold around his hands and cover it with his shirt sleeve in order to pass undetected through the green channel. Meanwhile Shafi is currently being interrogated by officials.
