Work to secure power seat in civic polls: MNS chief Raj Thackeray

THANE: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray appealed activists to get into action mode and drive the party to victory in the forthcoming municipal elections in various cities across the state.
Thackeray was addressing party activists and supporters in Thane, Thursday evening, on the occasion of the MNS' 17th foundation day.
"Getting to the power seat requires lot of hard work. Parties like BJP have been toiling for several decades. We will also work hard and get to the power seat soon whenever the municipal polls are announced. The public is already tired of the current political situation in the state and we only have to capitalise on this. I will aggressively campaign in your wards but local party workers will also have to reach out to people in their respective areas," he said.
On a jocular note, he said the uncertainty about civic polls since the last two years made him feel like a student who has failed to clear his SSC exams as all discussions were only about speculating if it (elections) will happen in March or October.
Thackeray launched a digital book of initiatives taken by his party including the works done in Nashik city, shutting down of 65-70 toll nakas, forcing telecom companies to include Marathi language in their Interactive Voice Response systems among others.
He also took a veiled dig at his cousin and Sena-UBT chief Uddhav Thackeray saying how he (Uddhav) lost his power seat after crossing paths with his party over the loudspeaker issue. "Cases were slapped against nearly 17k MNS activists across the state. I will review its progress during my Shivaji Park speech on March 22," he said.
