Punjab police arrest 6 'members' of gangster Lovejeet Kang's module in Khanna
Khanna police on Thursday claimed to have unearthed gangster Lovejeet Kang module and arrested six members of the gang with 13 arms and three live rounds.
LUDHIANA: Khanna police on Thursday claimed to have unearthed gangster Lovejeet Kang module and arrested six members of the gang with 13 arms and three live rounds.
Addressing journalists at Khanna on Thursday, SSP Khanna Amneet Kondal said that a special campaign was launched to nab the criminals who demanded extortion on the directions of gangsters sitting abroad. She added that a police team, arrested six accused in the case and recovered thirteen weapons, eleven magazines, three live rounds and two vehicles from the accused after establishing forward and backward linkages.
SSP said that on 26 February, accused Davinder Singh Bunty of Mansur Di Patti in Amritsar and Karanjot Singh Nona of Mohalla Azad Nagar in Amritsar were arrested from a check post at village Alaud along with four 32 bore pistols with four magazines and a case under sections of Arms Act was registered at Sadar Khanna police station against them and further investigation was carried out.
Senior police officer said that meanwhile, during the interrogation of accused, it came to light that all of them were acting on the directions of gangster Lovejit Kang who is presently in United States of America (USA). She added that Lovejit Kang instructed them to abduct earmarked targets and demand ransom worth several cores.
Khanna police said that during investigation, Davinder Singh Bunty, Kohinoor Singh Titu of Dhandari Kalan in Ludhiana and Harpreet Singh Honey of Ajitwal in Moga and currently Dhandari Kalan were arrested. It added that on 27 February, a 32 bore pistol with a magazine, three live rounds were recovered from the accused Kohinoor Singh and Harpreet Singh Honey.
SSP said that on 2 March, the accused Balkaran Singh of Sultanwind Road Amritsar, was arrested in the case. She added that on 4 March the accused Kamaljit Singh Cam of village Bhila Kanjali in Kapurthala was arrested with four 32 bore pistols and six magazines.
Police said that on 7 March, two country-made .315 bore pistols were recovered from the accused Balkaran Singh. It added that on Thursday, two 32 bore pistols with two magazines were recovered from the accused Kohinoor Singh.
