Franklin Lakes man indicted in 2022 Teaneck crash that killed 92-year-old

A Franklin Lakes man accused of killing a 92-year-old man in a June car crash in Teaneck was indicted this month.

Scott Lieberman, 61, was indicted on a charge of vehicular homicide on March 2 in the death of Albert Schnellbacher. Lieberman was originally hit with a reckless manslaughter charge when he was charged months later, in October 2022.

He was released with conditions on Oct. 6, 2022.

He is accused of striking Schnellbacher's Chevy Equinox with his new Ferrari as Schnellbacher was trying to turn left onto Windsor Road from Briarcliffe Road. Police said Lieberman was driving recklessly before striking the vehicle, including crossing over the yellow line and speeding.

Schnellbacher was taken to Holy Name hospital in Teaneck, where he was pronounced dead.

An indictment is similar to being charged with a crime. According to the Department of Justice, an indictment is when formal notice is given to someone that it is believed they committed a crime.

Lieberman is scheduled to appear in court for a hearing on March 20.
