Sand art to mark International Women's day

To mark International Women’s Day, noted sand artist Sudarshan Pattnaik has created a huge sand art on Puri beach. The sand art salutes all women with the message "Joy of Colour".In his 7-ft-high sand sculpture, Pattnaik showcases women from all walks of life, sacrificing their festivals to serve the nation. Pattnaik has used about 8 tons of sand to make the sculpture. Students of his sand art institution joined him to complete the sculpture. Girl students from his institution have also created different sand sculptures at Puri beach. International Women’s Day is celebrated every year on March 8 to recognise the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The event celebrates women’s achievements and raises awareness about women’s equality and lobbies for accelerated gender parity.
