HYDERABAD: Three persons, allegedly in an inebriated condition, attacked a fuel filling station employee following an argument over mode of payment, resulting in the 19-year-old's death at Janwada near Narsingi late on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as N Sanjay, 19, of Podutur in Sankarpally. He collapsed on the spot after being hit on the head. Though he was shifted to a nearby hospital, he was declared brought dead.
At 12.05am, three persons - Mallesh, Narender and Anuk - travelling in a car reached Sri Padmavathi Filling station at Janwada. Since the commercial operations for the day were closed, Sanjay and his colleague, Mukiya, refused to provide service. When the accused said they had to travel a long distance, the workers decided to fill the fuel tank on the condition that they would pay by cash, since they had closed their online payment option.
Two of the three accused have previous criminal history and had been booked for assault and outraging modesty, police said.
"The accused said that they will do payment through their e-wallet. When the bunk workers insisted on cash, the accused picked up an argument with Mukiya on why they would not provide service. A person seated in the front passenger seat disembarked and started to hit Sanjay. Later, another accused, seated in the rear seat, got down and hit him on the head and the temple. The victim fell to the ground," Narsingi inspector Shiva Kumar told the media.
The accused got into the SUV and left the place.
Meanwhile, Sanjay's co-workers panicked and informed the fuel station manager. The victim was shifted to hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
The entire assault was captured on closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera. Based on the CCTV camera footage, police identified the accused as Mallesh, Narender and Anuk of Janwada and they were taken into custody.
The accused were booked under Section 304 II (Culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
