2,000 cops to keep eye on hooligans in Ludhiana on Holi

LUDHIANA: About 2,000 police personnel will be on roads to keep a check on hooliganism on Holi on Wednesday. Besides, traffic police will organise a special challan drive against the traffic rule violators.
Deputy commissioner of police (traffic) Varinder Singh Brar said all additional deputy commissioners of police as well as assistant commissioners of police will monitor their respective zones to ensure safety on roads. The traffic cops will establish about 200 checkposts at various points, chowks and markets, including Sarabha Nagar, Malhar Road, Ghumar Mandi, Haibowal, Jamalpur market, Chandigarh road, Dugri, Ferozepur road, South City, Bharat Nagar chowk, Gill Road, Old city. Brar said, “No hooliganism will be tolerated and those involved in such activities will face stern action. Patrolling teams will keep an eye on inner lanes in areas. People can also inform about hooligans on ‘112’ helpline.
