Mangaluru: Panambur Beach is being developed in the public-private partnership mode, to provide international-level amenities to tourists, said Mangaluru City North MLA Bharath Shetty Y. The MLA laid the foundation stone for the Panambur Beach development works at the cost of Rs 7.5 crore on Monday.
Speaking after laying the foundation, he said that as per the new contract, the government is expecting an approximate Rs 10 lakh income per month and tourists will also be provided with the best facilities.
Stressing on beach tourism, the MLA said a corridor will be established with the development of Tannirbhavi and Surathkal beaches.
“Several tourist spots, including Nayar Kudru are being developed. All works are being taken up in a phased manner. While in several small countries, tourism is the main source of income, we are hopeful, that tourism will help local youth towards self-sufficiency,” Shetty said.
