Ludhiana: A video of an argument between a retired deputy superintendent of police (DSP) and an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) who is attached as a reader with the assistant commissioner of police (south) went viral on social media on Tuesday.
The incident occurred on Sunday night in Dugri area where the duo allegedly were involved in a verbal spat. Following the incident, the ASI made a daily dairy report (DDR) against the retired DSP, accusing him of misbehaviour and issuing threats.
Importantly, ACP (south) Vaibhav Sehgal is probing a case of a property dispute between former DSP Randhir Singh of Bhai Himmat Singh Nagar and realtors Rajneesh Thakur and Kuldeep Sharma. Both the realtors and the ex-DSP have accused each other of illegal possession of a piece of land in Dugri.
An official said ACP’s reader ASI Harpal Singh had gone to the spot for videography to use it as an evidence. He had called the complainant, Kuldeep Sharma, to the spot. After the videography, ex-DSP allegedly hit Kuldeep’s car and threatened him. Meanwhile, the ASI who was crossing by the area, stopped there on seeing Kuldeep and ex-DSP fighting. He tried to pacify them. but DSP misbehaved with him also.
In this matter, Kuldeep has given a written complaint to Dugri police. ASI Harpal too made a DDR entry against the retired DSP for misbehaving with him.
When contacted, former DSP Randhir Singh refuted the allegations saying, “This is a false story. I am also a complainant in the property case. ASI Harpal was sitting in Kuldeep’s car while returning from the spot. I came to know about it and I stopped them in the market. I simply told ASI Harpal that he was doing something wrong. Commuting in Kuldeep’s car is enough to understand that ASI was favouring him. I did not misbehave with anyone.” Inspector Madhu Bala, SHO, Dugri police station, said a complaint has been received in this matter and the police are probing it.
