Hailstorms flattened crops in the north Maharashtra region including parts of Nashik and Dhule districts. In Mumbai and the surrounding areas, unseasonal showers brought some relief from sultry weather on Monday. An official said on Tuesday that the Malshej Ghat region between Thane and Pune districts received heavy rainfall with thunder a day before.

Mumbaikars were in for a surprise as unseasonal rains lashed many parts of the city and surrounding areas. There were also hailstorms in some areas.The Met Dept has predicted rainfall along with thunderstorms in Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra.

Two men were arrested by police in Thane district of Maharashtra for their alleged involvement in multiple burglaries in the district, an official said.

A court here in Maharashtra has granted bail to a man from Navi Mumbai charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder observing a "pre-trial detention should not be a pretrial sentence”. Several parts of Maharashtra, including Mumbai, are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall along with thunderstorms over the next two days. This bout of rain is due to a trough running from south Konkan to central Chhattisgarh at lower tropospheric levels.

The Maharashtra Anti Corruption Bureau has booked Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and former corporator Yogesh Bhoir in a disproportionate assets case, an official said on Monday. The FIR against Bhoir was registered on Saturday after an open inquiry, the official added. As per the ACB, Bhoir allegedly had amassed assets of Rs 85.56 lakh when he was a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation corporator, which was 449 per cent higher than his known sources of income. His Kandiavli residence was searched and he has been asked to join the probe in the DA case, the ACB official added.

Mumbai Police has registered a case against a man for allegedly making derogatory remarks about the Bharatiya Janata Party and Shiv Sena leaders on social media, police said. The case was filed at Mumbai's cyber police station after Shiv Sena leader, Snehal Kamble filed a complaint with the police.

Activists of the rival Shiv Sena factions clashed over taking control of a ‘shakha' or local office of the party in Maharashtra's Thane city on late Monday night, prompting the police to intervene to bring order. Members of the Shiv Sena led by chief minister Eknath Shinde and rival Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray (UBT) engaged in a scuffle over establishing control of the 'shakha' in the Shivai Nagar area of the city located adjoining Mumbai.

The Railways will run 491 trips of 196 special trains during Holi for the convenience of passengers and to ease the festive rush, the national transporter said on Monday. These special trains will connect major destinations across the country, they said. "Special trains have been planned to connect major destinations across the country like Delhi- Patna, Delhi- Bhagalpur, Delhi-Muzaffarpur, Delhi-Saharsa, Gorakhpur- Mumbai, Kolkata-Puri, Guwahati- Ranchi , New Delhi- Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Jaipur- Bandra Terminus, Pune- Danapur etc.," the Railways ministry said in a statement.
