Speaking at the Royal Institute of International Affairs in London, Rahul Gandhi, a former Congress chief, on Monday, said that it is ridiculous to imagine that the Congress is no longer in power and that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would be in power eternally.

While concluding his week-long UK tour, the Wayanad Member of Parliament also highlighted the reason behind Congress’s failure. He said the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government’s lack of focus on a shifting nature of the political discourse in India was the key factor behind its failure.

Rahul Gandhi said the Congress was focusing a lot on the rural space and the party missed the ball at the beginning on the urban space, that is a fact. Those things are there. But to say that the BJP is in power and the Congress is gone, that is actually a ridiculous idea, he added.

Gandhi said the nature of democratic contest in India has completely changed and the reason is that one organization called RSS – a fundamentalist, fascist organization has basically captured pretty much all of India’s institutions.

He further said that Congress has been in power since Independence. Before the BJP was in power for 10 years, Congress was in power for 10 years. The BJP likes to believe that they have come to power in India and they are going to be in power eternally, but that is not the case, he added.

The BJP has accused Gandhi of maligning India on foreign soil while praising China. Union minister Anurag Thakur criticized the Congress leader on Monday for his comments and urged him not to betray the country.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the arrests of two of his top ministers, Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain. He said he is worried about the state of affairs in the country, hence would pray for the country during Holi celebrations on March 8.

Attacking PM Modi, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo said everyone knows that government schools and hospitals are in a bad shape. But two people, former Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Manish Sisodia and former AAP Health Minister Satyendar Jain, who improved these government schools and hospitals are in jail.

He further said a country where the Prime Minister jails people who provide good education and good health facilities to people and supports those who rob the country, is worrying. He said he will meditate and pray for the country tomorrow.

He said, After 75 years of Independence, someone changed the face of government schools so that poor kids could get the same education as rich kids and that person was Manish Sisodia, and in the same way another person changed the condition of government hospitals, gave people the model of mohalla clinics so that the poor can get treatment. And another person looted the hard-earned money of people. PM Modi has put Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain in jail on false cases and embraced the one looting the country, he stated.

Karnataka BJP chief Nalin Kumar Kateel

Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief and Lok Sabha MP Nalin Kumar Kateel has once again made a scathing attack on Rahul Gandhi stating that the Congress leader is not getting married as he cannot produce children.

When speaking to a crowd at Ramanagara as part of the Vijaya Sankalpa Yatra, Kateel took potshots at the Congress leaders for their early opposition to the Covid-19 vaccines. Kateel also criticized Siddaramaiah, the former chief minister of Karnataka, for his initial reluctance to take the Covid shot and for urging others not to.

Additionally, he also alleged that these leaders even convinced people not to take the Covid vaccine as they wouldn’t be able to have children. He said Siddaramanna and Rahul Gandhi had said don’t take the (Covid-19) vaccine as you cannot have children. But they took the vaccine. This is why the Wayanad MP is not interested in getting married because he knows he can’t have kids, he added.
