Mysuru: Deputy commissioner KV Rajendra on Monday held a discussion in virtual mode with officials from Wayanad district in Kerala, which shares its border with Mysuru, on the implementation of model code of conduct during the assembly elections. Addressing the meeting, the DC requested Wayanad district officials to join hands with them in implementing the model code of conduct to ensure fair, transparent and peaceful voting in the coming assembly elections. Meanwhile, the DC said that more people should be made aware about voting through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). Inaugurating the demonstration centre for EVMs here, Rajendra said
that there is need to make the public aware about how
the EVM works.
Safety of factories workers important: DCMysuru: Deputy commissioner KV Rajendra on Monday said protection of workers in factories is significant, and all employers should take necessary and basic measures to protect them, besides providing facilities to them. Inaugurating the 52nd National Safety Day at Kalamandira here, Rajendra said factories survive because of workers and their safety should be on top of the employers’ priority list. Department of factories, boilers, industrial safety and health director K Srinivas said every worker in an industry should be aware of all safety aspects at their workplace. “Industrial safety is crucial for every worker. Even contractor workers should be well taken care of and employers should provide food for them at a nominal price,” he added. AT&S India Private Limited MD Santosh Gundapi said safety of workers is the key in every sector of industry. Safety officers should take measures in this regard. “Employers and employees should adhere to all safety guidelines and follow them religiously. It should not be limited only to the National Safety Day,” he said.
Foundation laid for court buidling at Virajpet

Justice Ajjikuttira S Bopanna of Kodagu laid the foundation stone for the new court building, which will come up on 1.5 acres, at Balugodu village near Virajpet. “The court is a symbol of justice and the new court building will help several people who come in search of justice. Kodagu district has been sanctioned the new court building following efforts from the chief justice of the state and the Kodagu district judge Srishananda,” said Justice Bopanna. Chief Justice Prasanna B Varale presided. Justice Shrishananda, Justice Shukure Kamal, Justice CM Poonacha and Kodagu DC Sateesha BC were present. The special invitees to the ceremony were felicitated by the district judiciary and PWD officials.
