PANAJI: With several parts of St Andre constituency not receiving regular water supply, Revolutionary Goans (RG) legislator Viresh Borkar led a morcha to the PWD office on Monday.
He was joined by several women supporters from his constituency.
"Not just people in my constituency, but several villages in other parts of the state as well are suffering due to irregular water supply," Borkar said.
"It indicates the government's failure in fulfilling the basic needs of the people. The BJP government's 'har ghar jal' initiative is only on paper," he said.
Some of the villages facing water woes, he said, is a direct consequence of the BJP government's faulty decisions, and one of them is the government allowing big housing projects without factoring the strength of civic facilities.
"Due to rampant illegal hill-cutting and illegal borewells, water bodies in villages have run dry," he said.
RG chief Manoj Parab said that Borkar had raised the issue in the last assembly session.
The officials have assured to resolve the issue in a week, he added.
