YAMUNANAGAR: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday sealed a property of gangster Virender Pratap Singh alias Kala Rana in Yamunanagar district on Tuesday.
An NIA team accompanied by district police reached Kala Rana's house at Lakshmi Garden colony and put a notice on the property which exists in the name of Kala Rana's mother.
The notice placed reads, "Whereas I Dhruman H Nimbale, superintendent of police, National Investigation Agency and chief investigating officer of NIA case RC 39/2022/NIA/DLI dated August 26, 2022 under Section 120-B of the IPC and Section 17, 18 and 18-B of the UA (P) Act, 1967, in which I have reason to believe that the property specified in the schedule here under belonging to you represents the 'proceeds of terrorism'."
“Hence with the prior approval in writing of director general, NIA, headquarters, New Delhi, I issued an order of attachment in respect of the property specified in the schedule here under and direct you not to transfer, lease out, dispose of, change its nature or deal with the said property in any manner whatsoever except with the prior permission of NIA or of the designated authority. The designated authority has also been informed about the attachment mentioned in the schedule simultaneously,” further reads the notice.
The NIA investigations so far have found that Kala Rana provided weapons, arranged logistics and safe sanctuaries to the members of organised crime syndicates like that of Harvinder Rinda, Lawrence Bishnoi and Bambiha group.
Kala Rana had flown to Thailand using a fake passport and was brought back to India with the help of Interpol in 2022, and he has about 25 criminal cases of serious nature against him in Haryana, including murder, attempt to murder, extortion, threatening police officers.
Kala is currently lodged in a jail in Haryana.
