Chandigarh: Reminding AAP MLAs about their days in opposition, when they used to demand longer assembly sessions, Congress leader Sukhpal Singh Khaira on Monday questioned the short
budget session of only seven sittings.
Addressing the House on the second day of the budget session, Khaira said it was perhaps the “shortest ever budget session” in the history of Punjab. He said generally budget sessions in the past used to have 13 to 15 sittings. Before rejoining the Congress, Khaira was elected as AAP MLA from Bholath in the 2017 assembly polls.
Stating that many burning issues were untopuched, Khaira said drug issues require full one day discussion as the state government needs to act on sealed cover inquiry reports lying in the Punjab and Haryana high court.
The sacrilege issue also needed detailed discussions, he said. speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan said the assembly session will be for a full day on March 6 and March 11, which will provide more time to the MLAs for discussion. tnn
