HAZARIBAG: Deputy commissioner Nancy Sahay on Monday said the district administration prepared foolproof arrangements to maintain law and order in the ongoing festive month. She said strict orders have already been issued to the police and the magistrates to prevent untoward incidents during the three-day Holi festival which is commencing with "Aagja" on Monday.
The DC also directed them to ensure that Holi revellers do not smear colours on people of other communities that could invite trouble. " If anyone is found guilty, they will be dealt with sternly," she warned.
On playing music during the festivities, Sahay said instructions have been made to abstain from playing objectionable songs and DJ music in front of mosques. Security forces along with magistrates have been deployed at all mosques and strategic points.
The arrangement will continue as Mangla Julus and Ramnavi festivals are round the corner. "We have also organised peace committee meetings in all wards of the Hazaribag Municipal Corporation where people of both the communities participated and the directives were explained to them," Sahay added.
SP Manoj Ratan Chothe said over 3,000 personnel comprising paramilitary, JAP and district armed police will ensure crime-free festivals. "We also have special teams of the Rapid Action Force (RAF) and they will be deployed at strategic points to prevent any untoward incidents and activities of unruly mobs. Police teams are also deployed at all major crossings to conduct breathalyser tests," he said.
Chothe also said drives to destroy illicit liquor are underway and will continue till Ramnavami. Moreover, barricading of the important crossings, particularly near mosques, has already been done, keeping in mind that this year Shab-e-Barat and Ram Navami are also coming up. "The drones will also be used for controlling the mob from the central control room which will keep 24x7 vigil."
