Free entrance exam coaching centre opened at TNAU
COIMBATORE: Chief secretary V Irai Anbu on Tuesday inaugurated a free coaching centre at Tamil Nadu Agriculture University for candidates appearing for competitive examinations conducted by the state government.
Addressing the students of TNAU through an online mode, the chief secretary said TNAU was chosen since the environment required to get into government jobs was already there. The university had produced many government officials at various levels including civil servants, he said.
Aspirants should first decide the job for which they want to aim for. They should get the syllabus, old question papers and model question papers for preparation. They should make it a habit to spend four to five hours every day preparing . Choosing a particular place and time for preparation would help to improve concentration level. If they could follow it for 21 days, it would become a habit, he said.
“The university has allotted two classrooms for now. They will allot two more classrooms based on the response from aspirants,” he said.
Aspirants should understand that some of the subjects might be difficult when they begin but when they pursue it regularly, they would find it easy, he said.
TNAU vice-chancellor V Geethalakshmi said classes would be conducted between 5.30pm and 8.30pm, six days a week. Apart from TNAU students, aspirants from outside the campus can also join. For the larger benefit of students from other colleges, the coaching sessions will be recorded and shared with constituent colleges as well. Soon, the classes will be streamlined online so that everyone can join.
The state government has allotted funds and manpower required to organise coaching classes. It will be helpful for aspirants to take up TNPSC, railways, banking, SSC and uniformed forces exams. Later, coaching for UPSC will also be available. There would be separate sessions for agriculture students who aspire to become agriculture and horticulture officers, she said.
Refreshments would be provided during the class break. Accommodation and food would not be provided for the participants, she said.
