Bihar-bound buses witness huge rush
Jamshedpur: With Holi on March 8, the rush of crowd on Bihar-bound passenger buses is increasing.
"The current booking is going on for the buses operating today, while advance booking for the next four days is also on," said Vijay Singh, who arrived to book his ticket to travel to Hajipur on Tuesday. The bus operators said that seats are full in almost all the Bihar-bound buses till March 9, but people are coming with hope to get the ticket in the current booking.
"To accommodate the rush, several operators make passengers sit on a bench in the buses. Minimum two benches are installed on a bus as temporary arrangement to transport people," said Sanjay Singh, a booking clerk of a leading bus service company.
Since Friday, 60 plus buses are originating from the terminus daily carrying passengers in total capacity to Patna, Samastipur, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Aara, Buxar, among other towns in Bihar.
“Monday and Tuesday will witness more crowd at the terminus,” said Uday Kumar, bus operator.
Eager to travel, some passengers are ready to pay exorbitant price to board a bus.
The railways is also runnng special trains for the Holi rush. The SER is running two Holi special trains to Bihar and one to Balrampur (UP), besides, extra coaches have been attached to the regular Bihar-bound trains.
"People opt for bus when trains show long waiting list, currently the Patna bound trains are showing no room," said 50-year-old, Badrinath Chowbey.
