U.S. stocks edged higher Monday, extending recent gains while investors awaited remarks by Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell on Tuesday and labor-market data at the end of the week.
The S&P 500 rose 0.7% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 127 points, or 0.4%. The Nasdaq Composite gained 0.9%.
