Xiaomi is reportedly preparing for the launch of the next-gen flagship smartphone. Its current model is Mi Mix Fold 2 which went official in August 2022. The successor is expected to be named Mi Mix Fold 3 with a release around the corner. However, a new leak has emerged claiming that is not true and the launch is still a few months away.
Digital Chat Station, a Weibo-based tipster, has claimed the alleged Mi Mix Fold 3 will launch in the second half of 2023. It means the third quarter of 2023 i.e. June 2023 is the earliest we can expect to see the new foldable. This is in line with the launch of the current-gen model which also arrived in Q3 2022.
The leak does not offer many details about specifications or features. It is unknown exactly how Mi Mix Fold 3 will be different from Mi Mix Fold 2. It is speculated that there may be 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB/1TB UFS 4.0 onboard storage. If this happens, it will result in significantly superior and faster performance as well as data read and write speeds.
If we talk about the Mi Mix Fold 2, it sports an 8.02-inch LTPO2 AMOLED primary display and a 6.56-inch AMOLED cover display with 120Hz refresh rate. It arrived with a flagship processor in the form of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. There is a triple camera setup headlined by a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 sensor. The battery capacity is 5,000mAh and supports 67W fast charging for a quick refuel.
