Chandrapur, Mar 6 (KNN) The MSMEs in Chandrapur district of Maharashtra staged a protest against the 37 per cent power tariff hike proposed by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) for 2023-2024, reported TOI.
Later, a delegation of Chandrapur MSMEs led by Federation of Industries Association, Vidarbha (FIAV) president Madhusudan Roongta submitted a memorandum at the zone office of MSEDCL.
Chandrapur is a major power producing district and it bears the brunt of all types of pollution and temperature rise due to generation of approximately 6,000 MW of power, the FIAV president said.
“The micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) in the district are facing losses since the Covid pandemic and are running on special funds provided by banks during the pandemic period,” he said.
The FIAV president pointed out that the MSMEs in the district are in no position to pay the proposed hiked rates of electricity. (KNN Bureau)
