Daltonganj: Around 1,000 people have been kept on the watch list by making them sign bonds under Section 107 of the CrPC by the respective executive magistrates across Palamu district in the wake of the two festivals —
Holi and Shab-e Baraat.
Confirming the development, Palamu SP Chandan Kumar said, “It is a preventive measure to maintain peace and public order. It is done almost every year to check dubious elements from indulging in any unpleasant incidents.”
Notably, Shabe Baraat is marked by the faithful paying visits to the graveyards and offering peace prayer for the dead while Holi is a festival of colours and is celebrated by almost everyone from all walks of life. Kumar said, “We believe everyone will adhere to all norms that help maintain peace at a place like the burial ground where people pay homage to the dead.” He also said revellers enjoying Holi must ensure that the sentiments of other community members are respected and should not splash colour, water or flower petals on any person randomly.
