They came, they performed & they enthralled
LUCKNOW: It was certainly a dog's day out as 306 fur babies of various sizes and breeds, including Indian, hound, terrier, utility and others, participated in one of the most happening dog cum fashion show organised by Awadh Pet Practitioner's Association (APPA) at Dilkusha lawn on Sunday.
While a few dogs showed their pace and power, the others walked on ramp wearing glittering ornaments, bow tie, cap, hairbands, clips, ribbons, sunglasses and customized dresses. By the end of the day, 230 pooches were awarded for their performance and physical features.

Some of the breeds participated in the show were German Shepherds, Akita, Lhasa Apso, Chihuahua, Miniature Pinscher, Rampur hound, Cocker spaniels, Labrador Retrievers, English Mastiff, Argentino, British Bulldog, Beagle, Pakistani Bully and 28 others breeds.
As the day’s temperature soared to 32 degree Celsius, the uncomfortable heat made the canines whine and snarl, following which APPA volunteers arranged air conditioners and water coolers for the four-legged furry friend.

Speaking to TOI, Priya Shashtri of Mahanagar, who came with her Indian stray dog, said, “For the first time I’m participating in such an event with Hazel (pooch), and I must admit it was an amazing experience. Hazel came runner up in the fashion ramp walk.”
Rubby Umrao, another owner of pooch (Lhasao Apso) name Angel, said, “More such event should be organised in the city, as it would create awareness among the residents who are afraid of dogs amid the rise of number of attack cases which has created myths and rumours against them.” The participants who won awards in the show were Ojus, the German Shep create awareness among the residents who are afraid of dogs amid the rise of number of attack cases which has created myths and rumours against them.”
The participants who won awards in the show were Ojus, the German Shepherd owned by Himanshu Soni. Ojus won best breed of the show. Shih Tzu, a toy group breed from Tibet, named Barata and owned by Mohit Kumar came second. Sunil Pandey’ hound Faci (Whippet) was awarded best puppy of the show
Dr Rajneesh Chandra, vice chairperson of APPA said, “The main purpose of organising this show is to promote the quality and specimen of great breeds. We were glad to see that most of the entries in the show were well maintained dogs.”
