The Indian textiles ministry has invited proposals for empanelment from textile industry and industry associations in the sector to broaden the panel of implementing partners of the Scheme for Capacity Building in Textiles Sector (Samarth) that is operational till March 2024. The portal for submission of application is open till March 14.

A hundred and eighty four courses aligned with the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) have been adopted under the scheme across various textile segments.

The ministry has partnered with 116 textile industries and industry associations, 12 central and state government agencies and three of its sectoral organisations to undertake training programmes under the scheme.

The scheme has penetrated across 28 states and six union territories and out of the skilling target of 3.47 lakh beneficiaries allocated so far, 1.5 lakh beneficiaries have been trained, an official release said.

More than 85 per cent of the beneficiaries trained so far under the scheme are women. And over 70 per cent of the beneficiaries trained in organised sector courses have been placed.
