Thiruvananthapuram: Labour minister V Sivankutty on Saturday distributed the state industrial safety awards. The awards were given by broadly categorizing all factories into five groups. Awards were also given to individual performers in special categories.
Travancore Cochin Chemicals Ltd won the first prize in the large factory category with a labour force of more than 500. Factories that work in the chemicals, petroleum, petro-chemicals, rubber and plastic production process come under this category.
Cochin Shipyard won the award in the engineering, automobile repairing and service, textile and coir category. St Gregorios Cashew Industries, Puthoor in Kollam, bagged the award in the food and food products category. DentCare Dental Lab won the award in the other industries category. Augustine Biju of FACT, Aluva, won the best safety worker award.
Sivankutty inaugurated the e-Sanjeevani telemedicine facility, using which other state workers can seek medical service via mobile/video call for occupational health problems.
