Amarin says all seven independent non-Sarissa members resigned

Amarin Corp. (NASDAQ:AMRN) said that all seven independent non-Sarissa board members have resigned from the board effective immediately after the activist investor won seven board seats and ousted the Chairman last Tuesday.
"Following the 2023 special meeting of shareholders, we have made the decision to resign from the Amarin board," the board members said in a statement. "Amarin shareholders have strongly backed Sarissa and its slate of directors, and we are stepping down to allow Sarissa, as it has requested, to gain immediate control of the company."
Sarissa Capital Management, the company's largest shareholder, had seven of its backed individuals elected to the board and current chairman Per Wold-Olsen tossed out after a proxy battle with the company. The company said a the time that the new board will have 15 members and a new chairman will be selected. Now it appears that the board will have seven directors and a chairman.
Amarin board members Adam Berger, Erin Enright, Geraldine Murphy, Kristine Peterson, Dr. Murray Stewart, Jan van Heek and Alfonso “Chito” Zulueta will resign from the board as Amarin board "in the interest of the company and to avoid further proxy contests."
