The Kala Academy will be reopened before the monsoon season as the renovation work is currently in its final stage, Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude said on Monday.
Gaude was replying to media questions after inspecting the proposed land of the Cunchelim communidade for the Ravindra Bhavan project for
Bardez taluka.
Commenting on the Kala Academy issue, Gaude said that the renovation work of the Kala Academy is in
its final stage.
“The work on the air-conditioner duct has been completed and we are hopeful that the work on the sound system will be completed by March-end except of the main auditorium and it should be completed before monsoon,” said the Minister.
The Minister further said that the renovation work was delayed due to a court case for one and half year.
“The contractor was ready to do the work but it was pending due to a PIL filed in the court,” he added. Gaude, who inspected the proposed land site for long-pending Ravindra Bhavan project in Bardez in the presence of Deputy Speaker Joshua D’Souza and others, assured to take up Ravindra Bhavan project in Bardez and Pernem on top priority in next financial year.
The new committee of Cunchelim comunidade has come forward and offered to provide its land for construction for Ravindra Bhavan at Cunchelim.
Gaude said that the site of Cunchelim comunidade is an ideal place for the construction of Ravindra Bhavan in Bardez and asked comunidade officials to take a resolution and submit form 1 and 14 and also plan for documentation process and assured to take up work on top priority.
“In the new financial year, the works of two Ravindra Bhavans in Bardez and Pednem will be on the first list by the department of Arts and Culture and assured people of Both Taluka that work will be taken up,” said Gaude.
